Biography

Jacqueline Damas is a Lecturer, Researcher and Research and Knowledge Exchange Coordinator at the College of Information and Communication Technologies (CoICT), University of Dar es Salaam. She holds a PhD in Electronics and Communication Engineering from the Technical University of Dresden, Germany, completed in 2023. Her doctoral research focused on 60 GHz fronthaul systems, including dual-board architectures, antenna integration and high-frequency interconnections in which signals are distributed optically and upconverted to 60 GHz only at the point of radiation. Jacqueline received a Master of Science degree by thesis specialized in lightning protection of overhead transmission lines in 2008 from the University of Dar es Salaam. In her thesis, she developed a model for surges and lightning strike overvoltage protection for the overhead telephone line in Tanzania. Prior to her M.Sc. studies, Jacqueline graduated with B.Sc. (Hons) in Electrical Engineering from Makerere University, Kampala in Uganda.

Her professional responsibilities include teaching, undergraduate and postgraduate students, curriculum development and research coordination. She contributed to the development of a Demand-Driven Data Analytics Curriculum for Tanzania's Digital Technology Institute (DTI) under the Ministry of Communications, conducted from 20 June 2025 to 20 March 2026. Jacqueline also chaired the Secretariat for the Utafiti Elimu Tanzania (UET) 2026 Conference, overseeing the organization and execution of the event hosted by the College of Information and Communication Technologies (CoICT). Through these roles, she unites applied research, education, stakeholder engagement, and knowledge exchange to drive practical innovation and capacity building.

Her broader research portfolio spans RF and millimeter-wave communications, optical fiber communication, internet of things (IoT), embedded electronics, remote sensing, signal processing and RF engineering; reflecting a portfolio that bridges signal generation, transport, sensing, and the embedded systems that bring these technologies into practical deployment. She has authored and co-authored journal articles and conference papers across these themes.
